Attention Parks and Recreation Users: We Need Your Help! The City of Solvang Parks and Recreation Department has recently updated the City’s Parks and Recreation Element. What does this mean? It means it is time to set some goals for our parks and our recreation programs. What would you like to see? Help us develop our Ten Year Capital Improvement Project List and Goals. Recent suggestions from other members of the public include expanded youth programming, the development of a teen center, adding a multi-sport court in Hans Christian Andersen Park that could be used for basketball, volleyball or other sports, taking more overnight trips for seniors, and the list goes on. If you have a good idea for a new program or a new park feature or just an improvement to an existing part of our department we’d love to hear about it. The Parks and Recreation Commission and City staff meet quarterly at the City Council Chambers, 1644 Oak Street in Solvang, in January, April, July and October. Or call us at 688-PLAY. Thank you for your ideas and your support.
